Have you got a pile of reusable bags at home that you never seem to use? You’re not the only one. Our founder Wendy Lam told i-Cable News’ “智創未來” that she has the same problem, and that’s where this story starts.
Why reusable bags pile up
Reusable bags were meant to be the better choice. But we pick up one at an event, another with a purchase, another as a gift, and soon there’s a drawer full of them. In the report, Wendy put it simply:
「我的家其實收集很多環保袋，根本我不曾用得完。」
“I’ve actually got a huge pile of reusable bags at home. I could never use them all.”
「環保袋我又不敢扔掉，扔掉它我又覺得很內疚。」
“I didn’t dare throw them away. Throwing them out made me feel guilty.”
The problem with regular nonwoven
As the report points out, most reusable bags on the market are made of nonwoven fabric that doesn’t break down. So when a bag is finally thrown away, the waste stays with us.
Cutting waste at the source
That’s why we developed a plant-based water-soluble nonwoven, to help cut waste right at the source. Right now it’s mostly used for packaging bags, reusable bags and garment bags. After use, it dissolves in hot water at 90°C or above, with no residue left behind. Our plant-based water-soluble nonwoven has also passed ISO 14851 third-party biodegradation testing.
From bags to the beauty salon
The same material is now used beyond bags. In the report, Mr Wong, owner of HASPERO, decided to use our water-soluble material to replace the single-use items his shop used before. He explained why:
「但最主要的不是錢，也不是好不好，起碼來說我覺得對社會有貢獻。」
“But mainly, it’s not about the money, or whether it’s good or not. At the very least, I feel it’s giving back to society.”

點解環保袋會越儲越多？
環保袋本來係想做個更好嘅選擇。但係去活動攞一個，買嘢送一個，再收多個禮物，好快就成個櫃桶都係。Wendy 喺報道入面咁講：

普通不織布嘅問題
報道都有講到，市面上大部分環保袋都係用唔能夠分解嘅不織布做。所以個袋最後被丟咗，啲廢物都仲係留喺度。
從源頭減廢
所以我哋研發咗植物基水溶不織布，從源頭減少廢物 🌱 而家最多人用嚟做包裝袋、環保袋同服裝袋。用完放入 90°C 或以上熱水就會溶解，冇任何殘留物。我哋嘅植物基水溶不織布亦通過 ISO 14851 第三方生物降解測試 💧
由袋到美容院
同一種物料，而家唔止用喺袋。報道入面，桂圓美 HASPERO 老闆黃創安決定用我哋嘅水溶物料，取代店內原本用嘅一次性用品 💆 佢咁講：
