How beauty salons can cut single-use items: HASPERO 桂圓美 on i-Cable News|Ezygreenpak

Have you ever counted how many single-use items a salon goes through in a day? Bed covers, wraps and liners are used once, then thrown away. We think that everyday moment deserves a better option, and we’re happy that i-Cable News’ “智創未來” programme looked at exactly this.

Single-use items in the beauty salon

In hair care and beauty treatments, single-use items are part of the routine. Treatment beds are covered before each client, then the cover is thrown away after use. One client at a time, that waste adds up.

As seen on i-Cable News

On 17 October 2026, i-Cable News’ “智創未來” published the report 「智創未來|打入美容業助推動源頭減廢」. The report shows how our plant-based water-soluble nonwoven is used beyond packaging bags and has entered the beauty and personal care industry, where it has been adopted in place of single-use items. The report visited HASPERO 桂圓美, which now uses our plant-based water-soluble nonwoven in place of the single-use items in its shop. Our founder Wendy Lam (林惠芳) shared how the material works.

What happens after use

After use, our plant-based water-soluble nonwoven dissolves in hot water at 90°C or above, with no residue left behind. It has also passed ISO 14851 third-party biodegradation testing. That means the end of use is planned from the start, which helps reduce waste at the source.

How your salon can start

  1. List your single-use items. Bed covers, wraps, liners: note what gets used once and thrown away each day.
  2. Start with one station. Try a different option on one treatment bed first, and see how it fits your team’s routine.
  3. Plan what happens after use. Decide how used items are collected and handled, so the change works every day, not just on day one.
  4. Tell your clients. Clients notice the small details. A short note at the counter is enough to share what you’re doing.

Reduce waste at the source

Packaging bags were where we started. The beauty industry shows the same idea can go further: one fewer single-use item at a time.
