How do we calculate CO2?

Calculating CO2 emissions involves referencing reliable sources and academic research. Our calculations primarily focus on the manufacturing and end-of-life disposal stages, excluding emissions from producing raw materials and logistics. We also exclude air emissions during production.

To determine EzyGreenPak’s carbon footprint, we start by calculating the size of each bag, which corresponds to the amount of PVA material used. Next, we calculate the total amount of material for the entire order.

In terms of the product life cycle, we rely on academic research from Springer Nature and non-academic sources such as life cycle assessment reports from the UK government and surveys conducted by PE International Group. These references provide valuable data for calculating the greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) of PVA, traditional plastic, and cotton. Here’s our references:

Our conversion factor, based on CLP’s 2022 Climate-related Disclosures, indicates that 1kWh of energy consumed results in approximately 0.55kg of CO2 equivalent emissions.

Additionally, for every 1kg of CO2 equivalent emissions, approximately 0.043 trees are planted as an offset. We follow statistics from the Environmental Protection Department in Hong Kong for this calculation.

By utilizing a combination of reliable references, academic research, and industry standards, we accurately calculate EzyGreenPak’s carbon footprint. Our commitment to transparency ensures that our customers have access to detailed information about the environmental impact of our products.
