Your Essential Guide
EzyGreenPak is an innovative eco-tech company committed to providing sustainable packaging solutions. We specialize in eco-friendly packaging and prioritize ethical sourcing. Our dedication extends to environmental initiatives, including the development of water-soluble, compostable, and biodegradable packaging to replace conventional plastic packaging.
EzyGreenPak is composed of Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA or PVOH) and water. PVA is a synthetic polymer known for its water-soluble and biodegradable properties. Unlike conventional plastics such as PP and PE, which are water-insoluble and not easily biodegradable, PVA contains hydroxyl groups that make it hydrophilic, allowing it to dissolve in water. Microorganisms in soil or water can break down PVA into carbon dioxide, water, and biomass, contributing to its biodegradability.
Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) is a synthetic polymer known for its water-soluble and biodegradable properties. Discovered in the early 1920s by a Nobel Laureate, it was later commercialized by a Japanese chemical manufacturer. Initially used to package unit-dose pesticides, PVA has since found applications in various industries, including medical, embroidery, garments, personal care products, agricultural films, and medicine capsules.
We suggest dissolving it in water that is heated to 90°C or higher. Place the bag in a container and pour boiling water over it. Within a few minutes, it will dissolve. After dissolution, you can safely dispose of the remaining liquid down the drain. Wastewater treatment at a sewage plant will handle the breakdown of the dissolved material by microorganisms, resulting in the production of only carbon dioxide and water, without any microplastics formed.
Yes, Oour material is certified by the China National Center for Quality and Supervision of Plastics (NTSQP), showing that over 90% of EzyGreenPak’s water-soluble materials biodegrade within 72 days, meeting ISO 14851 standards. Our material is also certified through REACH Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) Testing & Environmental Ink Test, as well as the NTEK environmental ink test, making sure both the material and ink are free from harmful chemicals that could mess with human health and the environment.
Our water-soluble non-woven materials are super versatile! They’re not just for grocery bags or garment bags; you can use them in beauty salons, at events, in hospitality, for show bags – pretty much anywhere! Get creative with our materials and whip up some cool new packaging products beyond bags. We’re all about teaming up on your packaging projects.
Our Environmental Commitment
EzyGreenPak has undergone SGS lab testing and testing by the China National Center for Quality and Supervision of Plastics (NTSQP), confirming that our products are free from PP, PE, PS, and PVA plastics. Additionally, these tests have shown that over 90% of our materials biodegrade within 72 days.
While PVOH shares a similar long polymer chain structure with conventional plastics like PP and PE, giving it a plastic-like appearance from a chemical standpoint, the key difference lies in PVA’s solubility in water and its biodegradability.
PVA is a synthetic polymer with a carbon chain containing hydroxyl groups, rendering it hydrophilic, soluble in water, and biodegradable. This characteristic allows microorganisms in soil or water to break down PVA, converting it into carbon dioxide, water, and biomass. This water solubility and biodegradability set PVA apart from conventional plastics like PP and PE, which are hydrophobic, water-insoluble, and less readily biodegradable.
As a result, PVA is classified as a synthetic polymer rather than a conventional plastic.
- Does any microplastic remain after dissolution?
Nope! PVA is recognized as a water-soluble and biodegradable synthetic polymer. This means it dissolves in water and can be broken down by microorganisms into carbon dioxide and water, leaving no microplastics behind. So, once it’s dissolved and poured down the sink or toilet, the remaining residue continues to break down via microorganisms in our water treatment facilities.
The residue that remains is a result of the time it takes for the PVOH material to undergo hydrolysis. Simply put, these residues are not microplastics, so there is no need for concern. The PVOH polymers will break down into smaller individual molecules, lacking a physical solid structure, unlike microplastics. The dissolved PVOH will then react with microorganisms, ultimately transforming into harmless CO2 and water.
Yes, EzyGreenPak materials have passed various lab tests and are certified by SGS, NTSQP, and the NTEK environmental ink test, confirming that the materials and inks used in our bags don’t harm plant growth or cause environmental pollution.
We use environmentally friendly ink free from heavy metals, benzene, or ketone. EzyGreenPak’s water-soluble bags are certified through REACH Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) Testing & Environmental Ink Test by SGS. They have also passed the NTEK environmental ink test, ensuring that both the material and ink are devoid of harmful chemicals that could jeopardize human health and the environment.
You bet! We strongly encourage you to reuse our water-soluble non-woven products. They’re just like other fabric textures – durable and always reusable. The only difference? They dissolve in hot water (90°C or above). But because of this difference, we’re not part of any recycling program.
Our Social Commitment
As a profit-for-purpose business, we are committed to preserving and protecting the environment while giving back to our communities. EzyGreenPak allocates 1% – 5% of the revenue generated from each corporate purchase to local charities. This initiative aims to assist the underprivileged and educate the younger generation about sustainability and environmental protection. One key aspect of the EzyGreenPak Give Back Program is our transparency to clients regarding where their donations go and whom they help. We strive to ensure that donations directly benefit the community without being used for organizational administration or management fees.
We make every effort to communicate with our clients about the charities we support and where their donations go. Clients can also request a detailed report on the Give Back Program, which includes records of their contributions. For previous case studies, please refer to our learning posts.
Corporate clients have the option to join the EzyGreenPak Give Back Program. If they choose to participate, EzyGreenPak will allocate 1% – 5% of the order revenue to a charity agreed upon by both the client and EzyGreenPak. Clients can also request an “Impact Report” for details on their order’s carbon footprint and community contributions. Previous case studies are available in our learning posts.
We prioritize official NGOs with Section 88 licenses granted by the Inland Revenue Ordinance (IRO) in Hong Kong. For NGOs outside Hong Kong, we adhere to local governance standards and ensure that our partners are reputable and well-governed organizations.
Any corporate client who places an order with EzyGreenPak is welcome to join the program. We believe in partnering with businesses not only to protect the environment but also to support our communities.
